“Your Iron Will and Heart of Gold”

In my last newsletter, I asked you to guess which sitcom was one of my favorites of all time. The clues I gave you were:

It is about a hilariously dysfunctional family.

There’s constant conflict between the members of
the family.

And there’s even more love.

Additionally:

Each character is a study of certain Wealthy Soul
traits.

Each character is a study of certain Wealthy
S.O.B. traits.

So, which sitcom was I referring to?

I’ll give you one last chance to guess it –

Here’s a hilarious scene out of one episode which typifies all the reasons I love this show:

The older single brother has just moved into a new apartment. The younger brother who is happily married keeps visiting his older brother because, he tells his wife, he’s helping his brother settle in.

The real reason, though, is that the apartment building where his older brother is living is inhabited by dozens of beautiful women.

One day the wife pays a surprise visit on the brothers. She enters to find her husband gawking on as a parade of young woman come to the apartment asking his 40 year old single brother for a variety of things from helping opening bottle lids to giving him invitations to various parties.

The wife, who acknowledges she’s not worried about the women because she knows her loveable husband well enough, is nevertheless in disbelief at his constant inability to be straightforward with her.

She asks him pointblank:

"Why do you have to lie to me?"

The husband, caught with his hand in the cookie jar, in a moment of hilarious honesty, replies:

"I don’t have to. . . It’s . . . just my way."

The wife, who is as straightforward as her husband is not, replies:

"Why don’t you just say, I’m going over my
brother’s apartment to look at the pretty girls?"

And in a line that is at once belly-hurting-hilarious but extraordinarily telling of human behavior, he replies:

"I gotta be honest with you . . . it never
occurred to me to say that."

So, which comedy is this that I love so much?

I won’t keep you in suspense any longer.

Here it is:

It’s "Everybody Loves Raymond."

(Judging by what 99% of you answered on the blog, I really fooled you, huh?)

Anyway, let me acknowledge that there’s a chance you, may be taking offense to me choosing a scene such as the above to talk about in this, shall we say, "higher consciousness" newsletter.

And if you do, I understand where you’re coming from.

And it is exactly for that potential viewpoint that I find this one scene in particular and the entire show in general such a fine example of the point I’m trying to make.

Thus my question to you today is ‘Why’ do you suppose I love this comedy so much, especially when the characters so frequently exhibit . . . ahem . . . "less than Wealthy Soul behavior"?

And why did I choose this particular scene as a wonderful example of what I see as being so profound about this particular show?

And even more so, what is it about this particular scene that I believe has – 100%, no kidding – absolutely profound meaning for you and me to discover about having a Wealthy Soul life?

And even more than that, what is it about this scene that gives such deep Insight into the theme of the last sequence of newsletters where I slowly have been leading to the answer regarding:

"Where and how do you find the Wealthy Souls?"

Stretch yourself, my friend.

Beyond it’s illusory superficial appearance, this single scene like a hologram contains an entire world of wisdom about Wealthy Soulfullness.

Afterall, isn’t this type of "less than Wealthy Soul behavior" much more common to your experience than the extraordinarily beautiful Wealthy Soul act we shared our thoughts together about regarding the scene from "Memoirs of a Geisha"?

What’s the connection between the two scenes?

How can they be so world’s apart in temperment,
and yet have so much hidden Wealth in common?

And how can the answers to these questions
literally – change – your – life?

Anyway, back to our scene from Everybody Loves Raymond.

Why do you suppose I chose such a scene to illustrate this concept of Where and How do you find Wealthy Souls?

Won’t there be some people who take this scene as sexist?

Won’t there be a few others who will be out-rightly offended that I used it to illustrate anything remotely associated with Wealthy Soulfullness?

You should see some of the flame-throwing emails I received regarding advising you to see Memoirs of a Geisha!

At least with Memoirs of A Geisha, no one could deny the power of the Wealthy Soul scene I later illustrated that made the entire movie worth seeing – no matter what you felt about the subject matter of the movie.

Why would I jump from the pan into the fire here using this type of scene from Everybody Loves Raymond as a prime example of Wealthy Soulfullness?

For a very good reason . . .

It has to do with . . . life not being perfect.

Is your life perfect, my friend?

Do you have a perfect mate?

Do you have perfect friends and siblings?
